OTHER INFORMATION...
BREAKFAST CLUB - IS YOUR CHURCH ABLE TO HELP?
In late 2018 when the Saturday morning Breakfast Club dropped down to only three churches, Life Church volunteered to fill the gap in 2019 by hosting Breakfast Club for two Saturdays a month for the year.
We would like to invite other churches in Southampton to pick up the hosting and running of one of these two Saturday morning Breakfast Clubs (either the first or second Saturday of the month).
We'd love to help another church to set-up a Saturday morning team, and can offer to help by:
- Inviting potential members of any new church's team to come along to any of the remaining BCs in 2019 to see how we do it
- Offering our BC Leaders to meet a team from another church to help plan the set up and logistics
- Providing some team members for the first few months of 2020 to come to another church to help serve and transition well
- Coming to another churches meeting (sunday or another time) to share about Breakfast club, answer questions and pray with you.
- Provide training for kitchen staff, and advice for other team members.
If you can help please email james@scn.org.uk
SOUTHAMPTON STREET SUPPORT
Call for churches to open their doors to those sleeping rough
Sleeping on the streets is rough so churches around the city are making plans to open their buildings to those sleeping rough this winter. It follows a city-wide partnership commitment to end the need for rough sleeping in the city. The Street Support partnership believes that ‘No-one deserves to live a life on the streets. We believe they deserve better.’
The churches winter shelter will form part of a wider provision of beds to reduce rough sleeping in the city. Last year, over 30 organisations signed a Southampton Rough Sleeping and Begging Charter which said “Our vision is for Southampton to be a city where no one needs to sleep rough or beg. To achieve this, the Street Support partnership are inviting other businesses, organisations and faith communities to join with them in tackling the problem.

FINANCE TRUSTEE NEEDED FOR CHARITY CRY
Care and Relief for the Young (CRY) is a charity that helps local churches in developing countries work to transform the lives of the poorest of the poor young people in their communities.  Based in the offices of Kings Community Church we have a turnover in the region of £1m which includes the sales of our eight shops.
We are currently looking for a Finance Trustee to join our Board of Trustees to help guide and advise us on financial matters. We have a dedicated Finance Manager and so this role is to help oversee the financial work of our charity, not to be involved in the day to day running of the finance department.
CRY trustees meet about five or six times a year in the evening at Hedge End. We are looking for someone who would have a passion for helping the charity provide for the needy children in our world and who has experience of financial controls – i.e. an accountant.   Preferably we would like someone with an understanding of charity finance, pensions and legal requirements but this is not essential.
If you are interested in learning more then please contact CRY’s Chair of Trustees, Ian Chiddle, at ian.chiddle@btinternet.com .Thank you so much for your interest.

SOUTHAMPTON HOUSE OF PRAYER (SoHOP) UPDATE:
When we were praying about this theme, one of the team had a picture of someone reaching up and God’s hand reaching down to help them up and out of trouble.
This is God’s heart for Southampton, particularly at this time. He WANTS to help.
We believe that in our personal prayers we will encounter God deeper, especially where we feel we need God’s particular help.
We also believe our prayers for the city will be energised by the revelation that God is an ever-present help for us as a city.
Finally, we believe this is a time for responding, as God uses us to be His help to those around us.
Since January this year, Southampton House of Prayer has been open every Saturday between 9am and 6pm. People from across the city are dropping in to spend some time in prayer.

REQUEST FOR HELP
We are doing garden landscaping work (patios, decking, fencing, redesigning gardens etc), and giving unemployed people the chance to get paid work in a supported environment. We have started getting bigger projects recently, and they are stretching the experience of our site leaders. We are looking for some help and advice from anyone who has previous experience in landscaping/gardening work. We would consider support in any form, whether it's a few hours of ad hoc advice, through to regular full days working.
If anyone is aware of anyone in their congregation who might be interested in this, please ask them to contact me through the details below.
